Hello fellow Bloggers. This is my first time ever writing a blog. In English 1020 we had to read a story called USFS 1919: The Ranger, the Cook, and the Hole in the Sky. This story is very descriptive. There was a lot of detail that was put in the story. In this story it tells about how a life of a forest service is, and what a person had to do back in 1919. I had a hard time reading this story because to me it was so slow to get into it. The one thing I did love about this story is that it took place in the Bitterroot Mountain range because I am From Idaho, and I can better picture what the story really looks like. I have driven through this mountain range so I know exactly what is up in these woods. I also love that it says that the mountains would turn into oceans. This is so true about this range, it can seem that you are never going to get out of them. They just have a million peaks and then valleys and it never stops. But I will say that it is very beautiful.
As far as liking some descriptions there is one that I really like in it on page 131 it says, "The divide was just as beautiful as the way up. In August it was blue with June lupine." It keeps going on and describes what the horses were doing, and there actions they were doing. Even though I was not a fan of this book or it is called a short story. I really don't count it as a short story unless it is less then 50 pages, this one was 100. Not a short story.
Fair enough...we'll call it a novella then, okay? Good entry; I like how you pull in your personal experience!
